Miracles

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”...... Albert Einstein

I love this quote, and I've been thinking about it a lot lately.  What this scientific and mathematical genius said is 100% true.  There really are only two ways to live your life, and they are just as described above.  We either believe that EVERYTHING is a miracle, or that NOTHING is.

Note that he doesn't say "as though miracles exist," or "as though some things are miracles."  Rather, he uses the terms "nothing" or "everything."  This is very specific.  You're either a Nothing person or an Everything person... there are no Somethings people.  Although we can all imagine how some people in the Nothing category live their lives, I would like to skip them and go straight to the Everything people.

Everything people know that everything they have is a gift from God.  They recognize that every time the sun comes up it's a new day; a new chance to get better and improve.

Everything people realize that every success they have; every test they passed; every time their brakes work properly when needed is a miracle.

Everything people realize that everything happens for a reason, and that there are things that they can learn from every situation and from every person around them.

Take breathing for example.... When was the last time you did it?  How many times did you breathe today?  Do you know what you breathed?.....  Isn't it a miracle that you don't have to think about breathing?  Isn't it a miracle that the stuff we need to breathe and to keep our bodies alive is in the air all around us?  In fact, IT IS THE AIR!  That's the stuff that we breathe!  How cool is that!  Isn't it a miracle that our body does all of that for us?  Isn't it a miracle that we even have bodies?

The sun, the moon, the blue sky, air, water, our hands, our eyes, our brains, prehensile thumbs, peanut butter, electricity, computers, not passing that class in college, plants growing from sunlight, bees pollinating everything and making honey, Italian food...... ALL of these are miracles!!!  Actually, everything is.

So next time you wake up, or walk outside, look around and notice how many miracles you can see, because really, after all... there are only two ways to live your life.  Which one are you living?
